Full crop in the morning?
« on: June 30, 2010, 05:25 »
Hey

I have just let my girls out and just noticed that one of them still has the telltale bulge of a full crop.

How can this be?  And does it necessarily mean something is wrong?  She is on antibiotics for an inflamed preen gland but is otherwise behaving normally.

Could she just have pigged out too much before bed last night, or is it something to worry about?

have you felt her crop?
Keep an eye on her today just to be sure and see how she is in the morning.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Yes, I did feel her crop and it just feels soft and squishy...

I'm home all day today so will watch her and see what happens.

Joyfull, is it necessarily something bad, such as sour crop, or can it be something harmless?

I did just open her beak to drop her anti-b down her throat and there is no noticeable smell at all.

Her crop now seems smaller than it did a couple of hours ago, strangely...  I suppose it is vaguely possible that she woke up thirsty and had a big drink before I came down to let them out of the run....?

Anyway, hopefully it is something and nothing.

Thanks Joyfull!
