Dear Steve,

We have had our girls for a year now and have always had an automatic pophole.  I would say they are great.

It means you can be out in the evening and know that they are safely tucked up without having to rush back.  Only once has a chicken been shut out and as luck would have it it was on an occasion when were not at home. On our return we went to check them and found Poppy perched on the ladder, the other 3 were in the coop.

Best of all in the morning they are able to get out without waiting for us to let them out - they can have a drink and one of us will come along and let them out of the covered run and into the larger enclosure. We can have a bit of a lie in at the weekend which must be a bonus and over time makes it worth the money.

I'd be bothered about it locking one out or it closing early and locking them all out!! chicken buffet for mr fox. I'd proberbly go out every night anyway to make sure it had worked so I might aswell close the door myself.

I'd agree, you don't have to rush home but the lie in on the week ends is what makes it for me even if it's only an extra 30 mins , they soon mount up. That was the main reason to get it for me the opening not the closing. The first few days I went out to make sureit worked but now I just go out before I go to bed to check and lock the run door if they have been in the garden.
