Hi all,

I'm a bit confused what to do with my 2nd early potatoes (Estima). I gather that 2nd earlies are generally ready after around 13 weeks. I have a couple of questions...

1. Can I expect 'new' potatoes or fully matured big potatoes?
2. Will they store well? (I'm going to have rather a lot so hoping that I can!)

If they are mature they should store better. Last year I harvested my Pentland Javelin ( first early ) in July when they were fully mature. Washed and dried them, placed in hessian sacks in the cellar and they lasted until Dec/Jan befor they started sprouting. I would assume your Estima would store for just as long.

after 13 weeks I would expect them to be midling size, if you want properly matured big potatoes I would think at least 16/17 weeks would be better, and then they will store quite well
