Meet Mavis
« on: June 04, 2010, 22:20 »
This was a project I started yesterday in an attempt to have a bit of fun and save the strawberries!  Anyone else got one to show?

The funniest thing was that once I had finished her I went off to sort out the chickens.  When I turned round I jumped at the sight of her!  I must stop getting scared by the scarecrow  :D

  Unfortunately she is like her creator.  Has drunk way too many cans of beer and the beer belly is showing  :D

Only reason I haven't made one is that I know the dratted birds would land on her shoulder and poop all over her  >:( Rather defeats the whole purpose I'd say.  I've settled for plain old netting all over the place. Can you believe that as I weeded the strawberry patch yesterday the birds were all sitting in the tree behind me waiting for me to leave so they could nosh  Fixed them; although I was aching from 3 hours of weeding, I spread the netting everywhere  :tongue2: :tongue2:

I'm so so sorry , but I put it down to the long long winter and a mild touch of cabin fever, any way the tablets seem to be working.

Seriously though ( and to try and justify this thread on this board to the Moderators) it seems to work on the pigeons, last season they decimated my peas but this season they've left them alone. :)

I couldn't work out how to make legs!  I was going to use wellies but then I remembered I have planted my old ones with chives and mint!  Maybe she will get some legs for the winter, we will see!
