Any perennial weeds (those which come back every year) are best avoided in the compost bin.  Some people will dry them out or drown them for weeks and then put them on the bin, but I don't risk it.  Such wees are docks, dandelions, buttercups, mares tail, bindweed, nettle roots.

Annual weeds can go on the compost heap if they haven't yet seeded.  If they have seeded, then again don't use them as the bin won't get hot enough to kill the seeds off.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Just dont put any weeds on the compost, that way you are safe.
I generaly just stick things in the ground green side up.

Mares tail should never be near a compost bin unless encased in concrete.  As said if you are going to compost the other serious weeds then bag them in bin liner for 10 weeks and then put in a hot compost heap that should kill them.

Time waits for no man and I can't wait for growth.

I put most perennials on the bonfire, but dandelions and docks get fed to the chooks. ;)
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
