Plant them out at any point really. Just make sure that you harden them off first, place outside during day and bring in at night for a week or so.

Broad beans should not need supporting. One of the recommended spacings is this:

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *
*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *
*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

where each star is a bean (come on, use your imagination!), and the space between each bean is 8". 24" should be left between the double rows. They will then support themselves.

How far apart are yours?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I usually put a cane about every 4 feet or so along the row and tie a string along it. Helps to support them if it's a windy site  :)

I am new to this I have one double row like this

*  *   *  *  *  *  *  *

is that ok?

But I have planted cauliflower in between

I tried planting spring onions but the ants walked off with them

They do not require support like runner beans, however I always support them with canes and string as my plot gets a bit of wind.

They need support if you live up here  :(

I put canes/sticks at the ends with string round the outside with some strings going across. The first year we lived here I lost my broadies due to the gales.

Broad beans are very hardy. Some of mine were started under glass but went outside in April. Others were sown directly outside and are now about 9 inches high.
