Walking home with the dogs today I passed a house with a skip outside and by the skip was a huge (well bigger that mine anyway) compost bin with a note on saying 'free to good home'.
I couldn't manage it myself with the dogs in tow so I had to leave it where it was until I got them home and got hold of son number 1 to help move it and hey presto it was still there by the time we got back.
It's in fine order and I really needed a 2nd one so am very happy.   
I thought it was quite a good idea of the old owners to do that rather than just throw it in their skip. I like a freebie I do.

We managed to build a compost bin from scrape timber from a renovation project nearby (with the owners permission).

Well done. You really can't have enough compost. I have 2 daleks, a large open heap, a leaf-mould bin and about a dozen sacks full of rotting plant matter and seaweed.

Don't have many friends though
