Hi, welcome to the forums and welcome to allotments.

As to what to grow, well just about anything really, salad stuff is excellent, radishes, beetroot, mixed leaves as they are very quick to grow and taste wonderful.

Anything else really, the more varied the more fun you will have.

As for the plot you've been offered, I personally wouldn't bother taking on a plot for the rest of the year only.  I would want to know it would be mine for the long term before spending any time or money on it.

Good evening Rich and welcome to the site. We are into May now, by the time you`ve cleared the plot, dug  and planted it , it`s going to be the end of June. If you plant the likes of peas, beans and cabbages, you will get something from the plot. Don`t even think about longer growing crops because you`ll just be growing them for the plotholder. :D
