What to put on run
« on: May 17, 2010, 18:27 »
With the recent rain I have noticed that the wood shavings are compacting down so the run looks like it is covered in a layer of poo very quickly :tongue2:. Can anyone suggest what I could put down so as not to let the hens feet get too dirty.  I am having to clean the run out completly everyday as it looks yucky- can't tell what is trodden poo and what is trodden sodden woodshavings. :)

The run is mostly on a slabbed patio area with a gravel bed down one side for scratching. The run is covered on top, the back side is against a large fence but the water is blowing through the front and side.

we are making a run for the sablepoots and this is to be covered with clear corrugated sheeting. We are then having sheeting to go on the sides which we will hang up when the weather is bad to keep them dry.
Staffies are softer than you think.
