I have sprouted Runner and french (2 varieties)  beans as well as plant them dry. I did this about 5 weeks ago and still they haven't come up. This is a mystery as they are safe from any pests, frost etc. The only thing I can say is the runner beans in the packet are a bit mouldy but not much.

They're a bit mouldy? How old are they?

I would sow some more, the beauty of beans is they normally germinate very quickly - tough little blighters

It has been very cold which just stops them popping up.

If you end up with loads, you will be very popular by giving some away.

Sorry to say this but, if the runner beans in the packet were already mouldy what made you think that they would grow? They were obviously duds before you sowed them :blink:
Buy a new packet and try again... better luck next time

As Mum says, they were probably dud anyway but 5 weeks ago is a bit early for runner beans, especially with the weather we've had. My first runners went into pots in the greenhouse about 10 days ago and have just popped their heads up.
