Hi.

I'm just about ready to plant some Blackcurrent bushes (and Redcurrant and Cranberries actually) and at this time of year it has to be pot grown ones. I want to buy specific varieties (eg Blackcurrant Wellington XXX, Redcurrant Jonkeer Van Tet or Red Lake) which I can't find in my local Garden Centres.

So, can anyone recommend a good supplier? I've Googled a bit and found one site but the P&P is more than the cost of the plant!

I know I'll pay over the odds but I want to get them in the ground ASAP to give me the best chance of having a good crop next year.

Thanks.

I think you might be a bit late now.....alot of suppliers don't sell after bud burst.
Season is Nov-March.

No idea if this is a good site but here's one to try:

http://www.gardeningexpress.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=801

You can always contact them to see if and when they're still/shipping.

Ken Muir is good, but don't know if he does currants.  But it is a bit late for planting them like vietta said.

Parkers is quite good: http://www.jparkers.co.uk/plant-1003387-ce-1/3-blackcurrant-wellington-xxx/
but some very kind forum members gave me some cuttings last autumn. So it's Ribena City round our way.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Ken Muir is my favourite supplier and he's got a brilliant selection of soft fruit but he's stopped shipping.

I got some good bushes from Tuckers (Ben Connan), not sure if they stock what you're after though
If at first you don't succeed..... cheat!

You could try Blackmoor, they sell pot grown plants. I got some earlier in the year which seem to be doing ok. I went for the Big Ben 1 litre pot - looks like I will be getting about 5 berries this year :tongue2:.

i bought a stick or  branch from wilkinsons. according to instructions, the blackcurrant stick/branch has to be soaked in water for 24 hours i think then stick it to a pot. It's been 2 years now and it's still growing!  I've just checked wilkinson plus website and they still sell the same thing i bought 2 years ago.
