Tickle, (my Gold Partridge Orpington) has recently developed puffy swellings between her toes, on the upper side of her feet. She is obviously in discomfort because she limps, and often just lies down to graze; but she seems in good spirits, eating and laying regularly.

Any ideas anyone?

Hi, it sounds like she may have bumble foot, either from landing badly when she jumped off the perch or from a cut. If this is what it is then I would suggest you take her to a vet for a penicillin injection.

Hi Joyful. Thanks for the advice about Tickle and her puffy feet. We have  been to the Vet and you were right. It is bumblefoot. He has administered a painkiller and a strong antibiotic and I have to dose her twice a day with Baytril oral antibiotic. now, a couple of days later, she seems more comfortable and the swellings are going down, except for one which I'm hopeful will follow suit . She is  our star egg layer and it is horrible to have to throw her eggs away for 2 weeks because of the antibiotics. But hey, rather that than have her  suffering in any way.
