how much plant food? - help!
« on: June 11, 2007, 20:10 »
I have arthur bower lime hating plant food and really need to feed my blueberries as the early variety has shrivelled up at the ends and I've lost the berries on it, I don't want to lose the berries on the other one.

The box suggests 70gms/m2 for the plant food and 35gms/m2 for Iron sulphate, there is no measuring scoop so my question is simply, how do I know how much that is?!
Organic :)

Daft question - do you have some kitchen scales you can use?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Hi Sheena,
What I do is look on the pack for the net weight. If for example it was 500grams, you know that 100gms would be about a fifth of the total ... so 70 grams is about a third less than that  :D
To me thats easier than getting some kitchen scales.
Former biochemist, now experimenting and having fun. :-)

I find that mildly amusing for a former biochemist ... let's see now, I need 10 milligrams of phenolphthalein ... packet is 50gm ... but someone has taken some already ... okay, just a wee dash ... damn, my hand slipped.

Only joking, JT

   Yes David, long gone are my days of pH titrations.
But I have bought myself a nice pH meter.
Nice to hear from you after my absense due to computer aggravation    Jim
