I had a cracked an egg open and found something that I think is a lash inside -  picture attached -  Its really worried me as I do sell my eggs and don't know what it is, or if this could hapen again.

Can anyone help please ?

It is probably a piece of tissue from the reproductive tract.  If they are are shed from the lining of the upper part of the tract the hen's body thinks it's a yolk and processes it into an egg.

Thanks Aunt Sally,   Could this be why she has previously laying a soft shell egg ?

 I have had one every day for the past two weeks,  yesterday was the first day I did not have one -  as I said I dropped the egg and it cracked so threw it in the sink and found the lash.

I am of course worried about giving the eggs to others now , as the lash is not very nice to look at  -  is this a common thing ?  I'm thinkng that I need to but a candler and check the eggs first 

What does everyone else do ?

It's not uncommon to get a foreign body inside an egg but it doesn't happen very often.

Has she laid again yet.  If she does lay again just check the first few rather than selling them.
