Wing clipping - how short?
« on: April 25, 2010, 21:19 »
OK, Gallina, our head bird, has escaped several times too often. The fences are as tall as the Tower of Babylon so now it's time to clip wings! There are several good vids on Youtube to show how it's done but there is one point in which they are not quite clear. That is, should the primary flights be cut just a little shorter than the primary coverts, or just a little longer? Could anyone clarify please? Thanks, N

Hi Neil, I usually trim one wing only and cut the primary feathers to the same length as the coverts!  Hope this helps contain your little escapee!!!
