Disaster strikes - slipped a disc!
« on: April 20, 2010, 11:27 »
Just have to have a moan - did my back in on Sunday and physio confirmed yesterday I have a slipped disc.  Aside from the fact Im in blooming agony and can hardly move, I'm really concerned about the veggies - talk about the worst time of year to become immobile.

And no, it wasnt done lugging bags of compost around, rather 630am putting scalextric together for my son!

It always happens when you least expect it.  I hurt my bag putting on my socks one morning.  Thankfully it was ok in a couple of days.

Do be carefull Kermit, that happened to me in 1989 but mine ruptured as well and was not diagnosed for nearly 18 months resulting in my sciatic nerve being irepairably damaged. As a result I am disabled and in constant pain, walk with a limp and have foot ankle and calf damage so do be carefull and hope you have a speedy recovery
I came I saw I grew my own veg

Thanks folks.  I did it before 18 months ago - eventually got better, but still have to be careful.  I guess I was a bit blase in recent months and now paying the price.  Its a nightmare, so many seedlings on the go and potting on required.

Harrumph!

Hope you feel better soon.  It appears to be time to introduce your son to the joys of growing veg.  Make him do the work while you supervise.

Poor you - as a fellow back/knee sufferer I can sympathise with you. Anyway I would say that the answer is to get your son to do some watering and stuff for  you - after all it was his scalextric that did it!!
