You don't know my mother by any change do you? Her garden is half 'borrowed' from elsewhere.

Sounds like we must be related :).  Most of my garden can be traced to some-one!
Sally (N.Ireland) Organic as far as I know!

Plant plenty.  Celebrate success.  (Let selective memory deal with the rest.)

I just hope you're a bit more 'discrete' when it comes to acquiring cuttings that my mother. She's an embarrassment!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thats the way to do it !! I'm the same as you Salkeela ! my method is about the same. My borders are bulging, hedges and more, all from cuttings and splitting plants .Autumn and Spring seem to work best for me.

i really want to know how to do cuttings. theres plenty I can get me mits on, but even after reading im still unsure.  above the bud, below the bud. angled cuts?!!!!

if i just snip off branches where they meet the main stem of a plant and dip it in root powder is there a good chance that this will work?

Variable chance I would say!

Remove most of the leaves so the twig doesn't loose more water than it can take up.

Use deep pots and sink at least half (better if 2/3) of the twig into the compost.

Don't expect every one to take. Just be happy with those that do.
