Raising broilers...
« on: March 31, 2010, 21:16 »
OK, so since I have decided I will be raising at least some of my new chicks for the table do I treat them any differently from the chicks I intend to keep as laying birds?

At the moment they are all on basic unmedicated 20.5% protein wheat based chick crumbs.

Thanks for any help :)

Hi Casey, we used to feed our table birds on chick crumb until 5 weeks same as the layer chicks, but the feed company recommended we put them onto rearer at 3 weeks instead.  Our feed is medicated.  then 1 or 2 weeks before culling, we change them onto plain finisher and corn
