I have 2 8 month old welsh harlequins and was wondering when they will start to looks their winter feathers and start to turn white?

Also they hav started to build nests in the duck house is this normal?

I have no idea but im sure someone will be along in a while with some advice...the suns out and I expect everyone is out at their allotments!!

Welsh Harlequins don't go white when they moult so never!

My ducks tend to moult mid to the end of summer but there don't seem to be any rules on it. Some do, some don't and one decided to moult in Jan this year which seemed very foolish given the temperature!

Hi Kate it was my understanding that they lightened up a little in the spring they are very brown at present>??

They can fade a little in bright sun (chance will be a fine thing!) but I have never noticed a difference to be honest with any of my girls.

our runners moulted at end of summer and i thought that they would do so again in the early spring one of the girls did but the rest havn't now that they are laying in full swing they have built nests up in corner of house and each morning when i let them out all their eggs are hidden in the bottom of one nest but they all rush out and non bother to return untill time for bed  I was told that they do this and then when ready will sit on whole lot but as i keep taking them out I guess they wont get broody if anyone knows different let me know

do you want them to go broody? if so leave the eggs in place as they are trying to build up sufficient to sit on. They could still go broody though even with you taking their eggs so may stop laying for several weeks
