Laying after a moult
« on: March 30, 2010, 19:31 »
How soon after moulting do hens start laying again?

Ex-batt Bridget has been through a slow moult and is now almost completely refeathered apart from her tail. She rather lost her place in the pecking order, but everyone concentrates on getting at the two hens at the bottom, so there isn't much friction amongst the others! I have three remaining ex-batts ... one lays regularly (thin shells and I believe occasional softies) and I think the other is now retired. So how soon might I expect Bridget to start laying again, if she ever does?

I'd be quite happy if she didn't ...
two daughters, nine hens, two goldfish, three cats ...

I don't think she'll be long. Mine wasn't after her almost total moult  :)
