I have sown some broad beans in pots, when I checked them the shoots are growing downward into the pot, is this correct or have I sown them upside down?!!

The root goes down first then a shoot comes up.

yep. the root comes out first and they start going downwards (apparently!! but see my post http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=53805.0)
it takes little more than an inch of root to push the seed upwards.

Thanks for your help, wont panic then! Only noticed because my greenhouse fell over in the wind today and half my seeds fell out!
