so i want to buy something a bit more "MANLY" than a sharpening stone. i was thinking of a bench grinder in B&Q for 15 quid or can i buy an atatchment for my angle grinder for a cheaper alternative if so what is it called? thanks
i'll only be using the "manly" tools on my axe and other stuff not secaters

As far as I know, there isn't an attachment for angle grinders. I just use it as it is.
I'd also steer clear of the cheapo grinders. The last one I bought you could stop very easily, it just wasn't up to the job.

I use files and stone for sharpening hooks and slashers, chainsaws we stick to the 3/16 file. For the pole lathe tools im looking at the Tormek grinder and for the carving knives we can go down as far as down as 1200 grit paper.
Don't think i have ever needed a machine to sharpen blades. A good metal file is a must tho to get some of the standard tools to an edge like the Bulldog stuff  why well something that's not got an edge on it in the first place

Oh i lied, when we change the chipper blades they go off to be sharpened as they both need to be the same to keep the balance.

A dry power grinder in impatient hands can ruin a tool by over heating the steel.
