What's the best temperature for peppers germination (sweet and jalapenos)? I googled it but I found conflicting information...

my jalepenos and cayennes are on the kitchen table and have been for the last 2 weeks now got strong 2 leaf seedlings.....kitchen temp was around 20 degree's even though the seed packet said propergate at around 30 also water for the chilli's i keep in a spray bottle next to the trays so as not to reduce the temp to much

will admit they took longer than i expected to germinate around 14days in comparisson to my hotwax peppers showing in 5 days with a plastic propergator kind of lid on them lol

Jalapeņo are usually quite easy to germinate. At room temp but the important thing is keeping a fairly constant temp. I use a heated prop for all chillies but if you do it is important to remove the lid once they germinate  so that the roots stay warm but you don't end up with tall thin plants which can't support themselves.

As a general rule with chillies, the hotter the chilli, the hotter the temp to grow them

Capsicum and Chillis need a constant temperature of around 20 degrees.  Mine are grown on the bedroom window sill which is north facing, but has a radiator under it. Germination takes about ten days dependent on the variety.

Good luck

I did read the packet - it says 25-30. But I had read more stuff around (since I'm a newbie, I'm trying to read as much as possible), and I had found anything from 20 to 30. I'm going to average the advice here and set the propagator to 25.
Thanks all for your advice!
