Since my girl wouldn't eat them by herself, I gave her a couple of dozen twice a day ... it took just over a week but she's back to normal (apart from moulting!) now :)
two daughters, nine hens, two goldfish, three cats ...

Thanks for that advice, I gave her around 10 maggots last night along with som live yogurt and her crop had reduced in size by this morning it was probably still around half full but much better than yesterday morning.

Please let us know how she is coming along with her little red maggots.  I know that Little Red Hen Rescue uses them and swears by them.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

Update on my chicken , have been feeding maggots for almost 2 weeks now, her impaction has improved but is still not emptying completely by morning I am continuing with the massage and hoping that whatever is in there will eventually breakdown the vet  thinks that will happen, she is well in herself and eating and laying as normal,  just wondered if anyone else has had this problem before for this lengh of time and how long can I feed maggots for.

never had the problem myself but it seems the time span varies with each hen.
Staffies are softer than you think.
