just thought id share my news with you all, after hearing everyone bang on about having broodys here and broodys there, and chicks here and there i decided to buy an incubator after loosing faith in my  hens at ever becoming broody, and hey presto, i set up my incubator 2 days ago and then found i have a broody maran.
SODS LAW OR WHAT!!

shes got maran and light sussex under her so with a bit of luck i should get some nice little pure bred chicks, i also have a incubator with my silkie eggs in and some more maran(not knowing i was to be blessed with a broody)eggs so  i will be over run i expect, but my brother has said hell take some for his allotment,  so the more the merrier haha!

Lovely - you cant beat watching a mother hen caring for her chicks! -mind you broody hens are another matter - I have just had 3 fall broody -running around rosey furiously and squaring off at each other - my poor cockerel was rather miffed and hadn't a clue what to do but mutter nervously to himself!!! now thats what I call "henpecked!" :lol:  :lol: But I now have the most gorgeous chicks....
