I have plenty of compost for my plot - supplied by the council. Do I need manure as well?

My company has just been offered this compost and i understand its free,is it any good.

Surely well rotted manure is great for the soil? Everyone that grows the best veg on my site use it.  They put it on, wait a bit and dig it in, then turn up with the best veg!!! if you can get it...use it!!!

We are very fortunate to have access to council 'compost', the council used to deliver to allotments in the town, but have stopped due to cost, so we just go and collect it from the heap. The council collects your green waste and puts it in a machine, which turns and heats over a three week period. The heating kills any harmful bacteria in the material and speeds up the composting process. The material is then taken outside and left in a large compost heap for about three months. There is no nutritional value in the 'compost', but as a soil conditioner and mulch it is very good.
