with all the wind last night my spuds come a cropper :evil: .

I have them in a big drum and my cold frame fell over on top of them, damaging most of the shoots.

Should I break the bent/snapped shoots off or leave them and it will sort it self out?

Absolutely, let them do their own thing. Probably won't suffer much below soil level.
