Can this please be identified
« on: August 14, 2010, 18:44 »
I just purchased this piece of kit from ebay, it was advertised as a "Merry Tiller" I'm sure it is not, as it has "Deluxe 76, Dansk Arbejde (translated it means "Danish Work") " across the handle cross member the engine is a Briggs and Stratton 5HP. I need to find the model of the engine so I can get some parts for it. Would appreciate any help.
you can contact me direct if you like by PMas I have more photos of the engine which I am unable to post here.

Regards
Tony

Hello,
The Merry Tiller name tends to get used for rotavators in the same way as a vacuum cleaner is often called a Hoover.

I think your machine is in fact from the Texas range of machinery...once brought into this country from Denmark by the UK manufacturer of chainsaws...Danarm.

If it is engine parts that you require...then there should be a set of numbers stamped into the starter cowling tinwork..often hard to deciper but they should be there...quite likely on the flat vertical section of the cowling facing the carb/airfilter.  These numbers are the key to everything with regard to finding correct spares and service info'...They read; Model, Type, Code....with the code giving the year/month/day of engine build.

Clive.

Model        130232
Type          083801

Pleased to read that you have found the numbers...you may be able to download parts pages from B&S engine website relative to these numbers....possibly also an engine operating manual.

All good local garden machinery agents should be able to use the numbers to provide you with easy access to spares...regular consumable items may be in stock most others only a few days away.

Whilst I could recognise the machine type...I have had no dealing with the Texas brand...often machines of this age were sold very regionally..all down to what the main county dealers were agents for as to what was in a particular area....

Sorry, I have no info on blade sizes.

Clive.
