I have read that corn should be used like chocolate - as a treat rather than regularly.  I have also read that corn should be given at night rather than through the day - something to do with the digestion.  And then obviously we hear about "corn fed chickens" who seem to be the most expensive that you buy in the supermarkets.  What is the truth about this as I am a little confused - what is the best for my girlies.

"corn fed" supermarket chickens are just meat birds fed a high ratio of corn. Bear in mind that these birds are not used for laying - just fattening up, which corn does rather well. If free range they are culled later than the standard 38 days or so of intensively reared broilers

As Foxy said also American corn fed means maize. British feeding corn is normally wheat.
