Sick Chick
« on: May 24, 2007, 18:58 »
Hi I'm yet another newbie to the forum - taken several attempts to register but hey I'm here now.

Had 2nd lot of chicks hatch in incubator on Sunay/Monday all doin' fine and dandy until today :(

1 chick that was perky this morning and eating chick crumbs is now flat out, with cloudy eyes and generally looking very very sad for itself, does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong, the other 3 chicks are all ok with no apparent problems :?:

Thanks

Heifer

its just ine of those things unfortunatly. hatching in an incubator can cause many things to happen to the chicks, curly toe for instance only happens to chicks hatched in an incubator. there might be breathing problems due to a moist or dry atmosphere you will never know whats wrong with the chick just dont let it suffer.
thats the best answer i can give sorry.

Sorry about your chick, same happened to one of mine fine one day gone the next.  It is sad but at least it didnt suffer.

My survivor Gucci is a healthy happy little girl but boy is she a bully when there is food around.  She makes my poor Goslings life hell but me thinks she will get some back in a few weeks the rate they are growing!!

Hello ... sorry to hear the sad news about your little chick ... it really is just one of those things I'm afraid though. Sometimes they are hatched with weaknesses - Nature is tough and only the hardiest will survive.
