Our gooseberries are looking big actually. I've noticed tonight that they have a spot of mildew starting on them now.

The is a currant bush which was on the plot before us. The white berries are now starting to turn red.

The strawberry patch is looking good with lots of berries already forming.

I don't know what I am doing though so I could kill it all yet

The gooseberries are about the size of peas at the moment, so I'm going to put a net around them this week, as last year the birds and squirrels got most of them.

The blackcurrant bush is also starting to look healthy, and I can see strawberries appearing.
The new gooseberry bush I put in has finally started growing, but something has attacked the leaves, and stripped them bare :( but the redcurrant is growing nicely, but if I get anything from it, I'll be suprised.
My raspberry canes haven't done a thing, or my blueberry bush, there's more green and growth on the bamboo canes supporting the peas :(

There's no sign of plums yet, but they didn't appear until later last year.
Organic where possible, unless it involves the snails that now seem to be eating the slug pellets for fun

I have no goosegogs but only planted the bush this spring so wasn't expecting anything, dito to rhubarb, it's growing but am leaving it this year.  The strabs, also new, are thriving and I should geta fair few even this year if I  get around to finishing the mesh cage I am making for their protection.  The raspberries are very slow, but again new, so next year should be better I hope and looking at the groth on the blackberry bush I should get a few balckberries by the end of summer, but no sign yet.  Got an elderberry tree too, not sure what to expect from that this year as it's still very small but it's very pretty even if it never flowers or fruits!

We have loads of fruit on gooseberries, redcurrants and blackcurrants.  Birds all over York are licking their beaks in anticipation.  The redcurrant bush also started to send out very vigorous runners from its base. I chopped these off more out of instinct than knowledge - they were growing up through bush in an unpleasant tendrilly way.  Any advice on maintenance of these bushes through the next few weeks would be gratefully received.

Tho I'm across the pond, all my currants (red, black & white) are the size of small peas now and I must net them this week - far too many interested birds around here. The raspberries have just finished leafing out and will be flowering soon. The birds don't bother much with them as I leave wild raspberry plants, which they much prefer, at the property border for them. I'm also planting some nannyberry bushes for them to keep them occupied.
