broad bean woes
« on: May 21, 2007, 19:35 »
hi there

i've been waiting patiently for a few bean pods to appear on my broad bean plants, they've got plenty of flowers, and the bees seem to be doing their thing, only trouble is the flower trusses? stalks? are completely stripped.
the flowers seem to be underneath as if they've just dropped off the plant.

is this normal ? i've had a good luck tonight and cant find a single bean pod on any of the plants.

any ideas why this is happening

Have you seen any birds on the plants.  Sparrows often pick off runner bean flowers.  I don't know if they do it to broad beans too  :(
