Poultry Spice Cause Sneezing
« on: January 12, 2010, 18:46 »
Added some poultry spice to mash today and then heard what I presume is a chicken sneeze?  Someone else on here used the word 'honk' and that's more like it!

2 did it - could it have been the spice powder?

I know to keep an eye out, specially as I lost one girl on Sunday to 'unknown cause'.

I *might* have heard wheezing, but I'm deaf from a head cold so wasn't sure - they'd do this with their beaks open yes?

i have added poulty spice to their meal and at times i have heard them sneeze i would assume that sometimes the dust of the spice or feed can make the sneeze same as us with pepper  but at this time of the year its so cold for them its no doubt they sneeze an cough an wheeze but it doesnt always mean anything all i can say is keep a close eyee on them which your alrady doing anyways  :D . i had one the other day who was quivering an seemed cold had a slight bubbly eye so she went into qauntine for 48 hrs where she had a very deep bed of straw and the next morning she was fine but thing is shes moulting badly .

just give them time like all animals they have to grow to trust us in thier own way some things u cant just force onto them . i do still have one or two ex batts that dont like me going to close to them or even picking them up but once i have hold of them i tickle just on the neckline which makes them tilt thier heads in a cosy way i reckon that helps a little

My youngest chook 'honks' when she talks to me, I think she's learning. The others are progressing with noises as they come to POL.
