How did everyone manage with Chrimbo lunch?

We had no real disasters but I did find the mini corn on the cob still in the microwave after we had finished eating

Even if I say so myself it was bl..y lovely. The beef was to die for. Just managed to burn the roast parsnips yet the roast spuds were fine, think it was the honey. Will definately buy local hereford reared beef again next year.

And the Damson gin in the evening went down a treat after the pud!
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it....

Lunch was amazing. Honey roast parsnips were the highlight for me!

Leftovers chopped and fried up the next day for breakfast was out of this world. If you've never tried it, try it next year.  You will not eat so much on Christmas day just to ensure you have a massive plate of it the next day!

Before our son went home today we did a near repeat performance, leftover turkey ham and all the trimmings with loads of veg but I did wedgies with seeds and seasoning instead of roast potatoes, 45 mins from start to plate.

How come Christmas lunch takes ages to prepare and this was so quick and easy?

Ours was lovely, and the turkey from grannie annie was a massive success.  Must admit though that I drank rather too much bucks fizz whilst making it so was quite pleased with the end result considering  :)

Roast & Mash tatties, peas, carrots, parnsips, swede, all home grown. Home made stuffing with home grown herbs, bread sauce from home made bread.

Oh - and turkey.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I forgot to mention the finely chopped leeks in the mash.

I'd got cabbage as well, but thought it was a veg too far.

Going to make some more butternut squash soup for New Year, before they decide to go off.

Most of mine are only the size of golfballs  ::) my fault for transplanting them a bit late I think:(

Probably got half a dozen out of a 32' row, the rest are rubbish. The one I dug up is about 6" across - not bad for me.

No transplanting for me - too much root disturbance. Variety was "Invitation", allegedly club root resistant.

We had a lovely Christmas day meal... but Boxing Day me & OH came down with heavy colds, so have had no appetite & have not been picking at the leftovers... but the leftover goose still looks ok so should be able to rustle up a goose risotto later this evening - yum.

There's only us two for Christmas but the table is still layed 'correctly'  with the best china and cutlery (which only ever seem to get used at Christmas).  Parsnips and carrots were the only shop bought veg as I can't grow them.  Got the last of the turkey tonight as a curry.
