I found 2 of these yesterday and as a newbie, it was an OMG what the heck...moment but left them - thinking they'd be like worms, good guys!

They were just like big, fat, white caterpillars though, no pincers or coloured head.

Anyway, now I know to remove them but you know what, I've never seen a bird of any description on the Allotment!   :blink:   If I just put them out somewhere in case they are keeping  their distance, won't they just crawl back into the soil?

If there are no birds about Webwahm, then just stomp them. They squidge really good.

No birds?  I bet they are just watching you - are you a goodie or a baddie?? ...  the robin this morning was virtually pushing me off the bit I had just cleared ...  "yes yes human ...  now go away and do another patch some where else"

There's anti-bird contraptions all around so yes, perhaps they are just watching from afar and sizing up the new girl
