Hello, one of my girls, ruby, came out of the hen house yesterday morning with a bit of a limp.  I had a look at her and the claw on her middle toe looked really muddy, so I bathed it in some warm salty water and it bled a bit and when I took it out to dry it the mud didnt come off.  On closer insepction, it looks like its gone black! The bleeding stopped and very quickly, it was only a spot, all her other claws are pink and there's nothing on the underneath of the foot.  I put her back down and she seemed sounder, but when I watched her she was grazing and grooming on one leg.  She's fine in every other way, tail up, eating etc.  I'm wondering if she may have caught it on something and pulled part of the nail out or if its something more sinister. I've been bathing it twice a day and spraying aloe vera vet spray on it, any advice would be welcome!

My Dolly had a similar thing a few weeks back.
Her one claw bit was very swollen and looked almost green.  :blink:
She was quite happy doing her thing and hopping about on 1 foot!
Aloe vera will sooth it but you need antibiotics really. Sorted Dolly out. x
