My girls have decided to give up laying for winter (being bantams it doesn't take much - broodiness, broken nail, a "y" in the day etc  )

Anyway do I carry on giving them layers pellets?  I have two older girls who are moulting and two younger ones who are of laying age but now won't produce til next year.
In addition they have a couple of handfuls of corn and whatever scraps are left over.
I am giving them the occasional handful of dried cat food to aid the moult.

Any help gratefully received

I would be inclined to keep them on layers, to help maintain levels of calcium. You could add a little codliver oil and poultry spice twice a week to help through the moult and it wont harm the youngsters either.

I suspect layers is fine too and I don't change the feed once they start.  The extra calcium is more likely to be a problem while they are growing and their bones developing. 

Grossly overloading them with calcium is definitely not good through the feed won't do this.  You could cut out the oystershell though and definitely don't feed it as a suppliment in their feed.  Just use the insoluable grit ad lib so they can still grind their food up.
