lemon and mustard seed chutney
« on: October 28, 2009, 10:45 »
I'm trying this tonight. I've chopped the lemons and they're steeping in the salt but now I'm wondering if I chopped them small enough. They're about 4mm thick triangle slices about 15mm each way. Should I give them another chop before cooking?
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

They should be fine as they are.

Well I did it - very easy and it tastes quite good, although the mustard seed is quite rustic. I'm sure it will mellow.

I had some spare in a dish and I had it last night with curry - lovely, and the night before with sardines on toast - double yummy.
I must make some more

Give it a couple of months and it'll taste even better, I'm sure the mustard seeds will mellow. Where did you get them from? I usually use Sainsburys' own and they don't seem "rustic" to me. But that could just be me! ::) ::) ::)

I'm sure it will improve with age. The mustard seeds are Tescos but they did mellow quite a bit, even in a week. A lovely recipe and so easy.
