I have loads of marigold plants and wondered if I could put these in my compost bin when they are finished or will I be plagued with everything sprouting marigold plants next year.  I used to put tomatoes in from the kitchen but ended up with everything having tomatoes growing out of them.  Don't particularly want the same next year but with marigolds (although they would look prettier!)

Yep the seeds will sprout next year if you put them in, cos i got loads in the greenhouse from last years compost I just left them to it tho' to keep the white fly off
Not so many grew outside but the hoe did the job, where i didn't want them.

I second that, Mumofstig. They do keep the whitefly out of the greenhouse remarkably well.

Thanks for this, think I will keep to a minimum as I use quite a lot of compost in pots so the hoe is out.
