Help...Pooly Ex batt??
« on: October 07, 2009, 17:51 »
On Sunday on of my Ex Baths seemed unwell she was standing around looking very sorry for herself her poo was runny and greenish she has perked up over the past few days poo is still runny but a normal colour. I have felt her crop which appears to be normal and her vent looks and feels ok. She dosent seem to sit down at all just keeps standing on her own, she also jerks her head around, she still comes to the gate when I go in the garden and is eating and drinking but not with her usual enthuasim when I picked her up she lost alot of feathers when I put her down?? I thought she had finished moulting a month or so ago?? She dosent appear to be laying but none of my girls do. The weather has changed alot here could she just be fed up or is she ill?? Help!!

No, she is not sneezing and her nose is clear her comb is floppy and has a slight pruple tinge and she is jerking her head from side to side. She was wormed a few months ago. I will treat her as if she is still moulting and give her lots of TLC (well they get that anyway but a little more wont hurt)

If she's moulting try giving her a bit of fishy cat food to help her, the extra protein might perk her up a bit.

It surprising what a bit of sun does.. yesterday she was sunbathing and dustbathing looking very pleased with herself. I think she is moulting so I am giving her extra protein and I decided to worm them all again even though I wormed them in August and I have worms in poos so a combination seems to be working she is scratching around leading all the others girls to cause mischeif terrorising my dogs surprising how terrified red setters can be against chickens. Hopefully we are all over it now. Thanks all for helping and for the advice. Maybe she is a chicken with SAD I know how she feels.
