I have 2 bags and a tub of Christmas potatos too and I imagine they need watering just as  'in the ground ones' might, esp in dry weather, in order for the tubers to form well. I've been watering when the compost feels very dry and I aim to transfer them to the shed when the weather turns really cold. I may even cover them with fleece later on as my shed is pretty cold in winter.  Hope this helps........perhaps someone with more experience will read this and offer more advice.  What variety did you use?
The less time you have, the more becomes available.

Think ones in pots will need watering more often than ones in the ground as they don't have the same depth of soil to draw moisture from.

Mine are now in the greenhouse as the mornings are pretty chilly here at the moment, especially with the clear skys.

I have my fleece ready too  :D
