Mucha

Hi, I am new the site as well and am finding out some really useful stuff.
We were told by an old farmer that one way to deter Mr Fox is human urine. I know it sounds gross but a little outside the coop seems to work well. We have lost a few over the years, but our hens can roam a long way from home during the day, however, we haven't lost any from close to the farm. Our neighbour, on the other hand used to lose lots and lots.

On the subject of cockerels, we haven't had one for some time and our hens are laying well. The only thing we noticed is that when there is a cockerel the hens all stick together with him (the ducks behave the same way) but when there is no cockerel they all seem to wander off and do their own thing (unless they are all round my feet begging food that is!!)

All the best

I told my OH he had to go and pee round my chicken house and he looked at me in horror.  Poor OH he has a lot to contend with and now public humiliation, I told him he could do it indoors and pour it out but think its a no-no.
Human hair is supposed to work so maybe a friendly hairdressers may supply you with some floor sweepings.

My OH pees in a bucket in the shed and sprinkles it around for me

The only problem with hair from the hairdressers is that it smells of shampoo rather than humans
