We got our girls about 6 weeks ago now and they are about 26 weeks so it seemed like they would never lay! About a week ago fluffy's comb and wattles suddenly looked very big and red and she's been doing that funny thing where they flatten themselves down like they want to be mounted so I was expecting she would lay first. Also I told her she'd be out on her ear if she didn't lay soon lol

Just hoping its because she is a light sussex and have been told they can be six to nine months before they lay,  her comb is not very big or deep red but getting brighter.  We have had to introduce new younger hens and got rid of her first pal who was a boy so a little disruption.  Also not sure with the other two might have two boys .  Hope its nothing I am doing try to make life interesting for them.  Not let them in the garden yet because their wings need clipping and have already lost the banty crosses when they liked the look of the twelve foot tree next door
