First time I have had basil grown indoors make flower heads.  Been growing it a couple of years now.  As I have mixed lemon basil and ordinary basil in the pot I don't know which one is responsible.  I think its the lemon one as the leaves aren't as curly at the edges.  Will it taste ok still do you think.

Nip off flowers quick and carry on eating though in my experience they do tend to go over once they have tried to flower

No worries, I seem to be able to germinate and do new basils easy.  Got some free packets as well from which who was doing a tom trail at the West Dean tomato fest.  Then got some free Lemon basil in a mag the other day.

Don't bother with the lime one its a poor relation of the lemon and tastes like a weak lemon.

I love Basil but I have shocking luck at growing it. It either bolts, dies or tastes very very bitter.

Try lemon basil and do it indoors.  I have trouble growing herbs outdoors with bolting.
