6 gms of white powder........
« on: September 07, 2009, 09:37 »
and now I've got Hyper chickens.

Started dosing with Flubenvet on Saturday, 6 gms very carefully measured and very carefully mixed into 2 kgs of food.

Sunday noticed they were V active, more squabbling than usual, even a bit of kick boxing, which hasn't happened since they all met each other, and nearly got my skirt ripped - might have been the little red flowers ::).

Of course I've no complaints that they are going for it in terms of lifestyle (they are ex batts), but has anyone else noticed this sort of thing?

Might just be coincidence, the only other odd thing about yesterday, was that we had a bit of sunshine.  They all instantly threw themselves on the floor, one wing out, etc, but even that started a fight, because they all wanted to be where someone else was..... Tut!

Do they get more active in cooler weather?

Any observations welcome :D

That's what it says on the container, but you do have to wonder!  Might have a pinch of it myself, could do with a bit of a boost.

How long have you had the chickens?
If it is only a few weeks, they may still be sorting their pecking order. If you've had them for longer,i'm off to get some flubvenvet  :D,I need some 'get up and go',mine got up and went.

Had them 5 weeks. Pecking order was sorted out the first week, no contest, it was Tilly the Hun from start to finish.

They did seem a little calmer yesterday, so maybe it was just the shock of some warm sunshine that got them going after all that rain.  Can't think what else was different apart from the flubenvet.

Have noticed that they are much happier since putting the roof over the pen.  I'm not keen on it personally, prefer to see the trees swishing overhead, but obviously these girls are not as aesthetically discerning as I am!   They just want to be dry and fluffy, and who can blame them, bless their little frilly knickers (dry frilly knickers now!).

Since roof went on egg count has gone up, regular 7 eggs from 8 girls rather than 4-5.

Anyway whatever is that's floating their boats, long may it last
