aureomycin!
« on: September 14, 2009, 19:45 »
picked up my aureomycin from the vets today and noticed that the packaging was different as it had 55mg rather than 5.5% chloroteretracelyn hydrochloride (sp) on the packaging so rang the vets to check as it also didnt give the usual egg withdrawel of nil on the packaging either! the vet has just rung back (after i have already given the girls it in their water) and said he has spoken to the company that make it and its no longer licensed for poultry!?? and would need to do the usual 7 days after treatment withdrawel!  i could cry  :( i only went to all the trouble to get the aureomycin so we could still eat the eggs and now all my laying girls have had some  :(
Its all my own fault as i should of isolated Belle when she came here   but i just put her in with the other aruacanas. i am such a numpty!

The egg withdrawal period is now in place because it is no longer licenced for poultry(probably due to costs of retesting for the licence).

It is still the same treatment as previously had no egg withdrawal !  ;)

And is a drug that has been used in humans. ;)
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

??? i did think that not 3 months ago i used the same stuff and still ate the eggs! was just abit confused as the package now says 55mg rather than 5.5%! didnt know if it was stronger? so that is the only reason then? that they dont want to pay for it to be relicensed? PHEW!! thankyou  i feel a bit better now!

5.5% means 5.5g per 100ml which is the same as 55mg in 1 ml so the same.
