this has been my 1st year growing vegetables and its all went well...how? i'm not very sure so I have got some veg sorted for my raised bed to plant through the winter.....next year I want to introduce fruit to my garden, when is the best time to plant I'm thinking plum tree, raspberrys and ?... started to make my own pickles and chutney so thought instead of buying the fruit I should plant, I know the plum tree will take a while but its worth a try any advice would be great

thanks :) :)

how much room have you got for a plum tree? They do grow BIG, however if you get one on dwarfing root root stock you will get a small tree thats easy to keep in bounds and you generally get a large enough crop for one household.  Plums tend to glut one year and be sparse the next...
Death OR Cake ???

Plant all fruit during the dormant season.

As Cooperman says plums are a bit hit and miss - why not plant apples?  they are more reliable and available in much more dwarfing forms.

Do you like strawberries?  or currants?

Cheers,

Gillie

Order it now and plant it when it arrives!  Be sure you buy a self fertile variety if you are only going to have one tree.  You need it to be on the rootstock Pixy but it will still grow to seven feet or so.

Cheers,

Gillie
