Anyone got any advice on how to prevent both our lady geese from nesting in the same nest like last year? We made a shelter from pallets and some old coldframe twinwall panels which worked but we ended up with too many eggs in the nest and I don't think we removed enough so some fertile ones were wasted and we got no goslings. My hubby has just made a nice one out of an old dolly tub on its side and covered it with some old carpet and lined the bottom of it too before putting the nesting box in (I believe they used to use grass sods in times past); he has also made another box from outdoor ply and partially covered the front with a removable panel but the geese seem to show no interest in these - just their original shelter. Perhaps they need more time to investigate their des res?

I can't really help I'm afraid as this will be my first year with 2 (maybe 3 :?) females.

Last year Crumb made her nest in a large dog crate I was thinking about putting 2 in the their bedroom and then they can choose, that way it will keep them a bit more separate :?
They also have 2 shelters out in the garden, but aren't showing any interest in nest building at the moment

Our two seem to nest where they want to not us! They settled for being in the open this year but we had no goslings (again). I now have a book that showed a goose in a nest made under a home made canopy of conifer branches rather like a wigwam. I just need a big conifer!
