Is she broody?
« on: August 10, 2009, 18:45 »
I have got 3 ex-batts that I have had for 3 months.  Today when I checked them one (Betty) was missing!  I found her sat in the nest box.  She was sat on 2 eggs.  I know that they weren't her eggs as she lays large wrinkly shelled eggs.  She came out of the box for some treats and took a drink but has gone back in the nest box.  I removed the eggs when she came out.  She looks well and has a bright red comb the same as the others.

What can I do?  Please help.

It is unusual for an ex batt to go broody but not unheard off. It sounds like she is, my cuckoo maran has just got over being broody for the second time (her babies are only 10 weeks old). When you go to her in the nest box does she fluff her feathers up and make any noise - a bit like growling?
Staffies are softer than you think.
