I picked my first carrots yesterday...wow they have done so well, they smell and taste amazing. As I stood looking at them in wonder I noticed these round, transparent blobs surrounding the carrots. They look like they are entwined within the small root system around the carrot if that makes sense?! They look like eggs but I then I thought they could be the small nodules of nitrogen that I keep reading about. Can anyone help me...I am intrigued!

Carrots do not have the root nodules which fix nitrogen.  Only legumes do that.   I suspect these are slugs' eggs.

oh no!!! do you think I should i pick all my carrots before they start their nasty work?

Almost certainly slug ar snail eggs: if theyre more-or-less transparent, more likely to be slugs. If they hatch and find a tasty carrot in front of em, I dont think theyll bother looking for something else.
Try pulling up some more in a few days to see whats happened.

well if i was a slug down there i would have a taste! Thanks for your help, I will investigate further and perhaps get hold of some nemaslug.
